Dobërdol, 19 February - A team of mountain skiing experts, composed of professionals from Kosovo, Albania, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, has conducted initial tests of the Sublica plateau and Doberdol village for skiing purposes. For their assessments, they utilized the specialized snow grooming vehicle, the Pistenbully 600.
Following an intensive testing period, the team has succeeded in verifying the quality and potential of these areas for skiing sport development. In this context, the team has decided to proceed with registering the company "Freeride Albania," which will focus on promoting and developing winter sports in the Albanian Alps. Bardhosh Morina an Alpine Guide and a prominent member of the Kosovo Mountain Rescue herein being leader of the exploratory group said that aside from technical difficulties the other important factors went smooth and perfect. “We had an intensive week filled with heavy workload and commitment from our staff but ultimately everything went well. Doberdol Valley has potential, partnership with the local service providers is a key factor for a successful journey. The first Dutch group that trusted us, are extremely pleased, I believe it is a very good start” he said. During their stay in the study area, the team utilized "Guest House Leonardi" as their base, an environment suitable for winter conditions. This guest house, which has already provided excellent services for clients during the summer season for a long period, is now adapted to the needs of winter visitors. During a one-week stay in the Albanian Alps, the team has identified suitable trails and organized a guided tour with a snow grooming vehicle, similar to the activities already available in Kosovo and North Macedonia.
